| Royston has shown considerable talent since joining the club
as a youngster. He left briefly to play cricket in the Premier League with
Shenfield but, since his return as captain, he looks set to break all
records. Royston skippered the side to promotion to the Premier League for
the first time in the club's history in 2005, leading from the front with
707 runs at an average of 35. He represented the Essex ECB against Warwickshire and played for the SNEL League team which reached the final of the Sovereign Cup in 2003.
