Ardleigh Green were
grateful for the assistance of the NatWest Cricket Force for help in getting
the ground ready for the new season. Workers from the Hornchurch branch gave
up their Sunday morning to support the scheme sponsored by Natwest.
The Shoreys were out in
force with Ivor bringing a variety of interesting gardening tools to help
get the job done.
One of the
bigger jobs involved painting the storage containers which must have broken
the hearts of the local graffiti artists (unless they now see it as a blank
canvas) where we saw the biggest painting collective since Tom Sawyer
enlisted help to whitewash the fence. Julie Cook shows that painting must be
a family thing.
The Panther recovered from
his birthday celebration the previous evening but found the thorns a bit
tricky.
Ivor showed great
dexterity in using his tools, seen here attacking the foliage at the rear of
the pavilion.
Other painting
duties involved the wood required to repair the sightscreens.
Watch out Wendy! This
looks like Bill's ideal woman as she fills in on his tea making duties.
Removing the stones from
the recently installed drainage channel was another exciting job for the
team to tackle.
T-shirts were available
and, yes, there was an extra large. It must be said that Cas was an amiable
foreman in the absence of The Hanger.
No Julie, you don't have
to paint the tree.
Simon Dowling did not wish
to be photographed in case his wife thought he could be useful in the
garden. He is seen here, practicing the leg glance.
Potter turned up with his
film producer's cap and showed the Pig how to use the roller Sadly, that's
all he did.
Staff were amused to see
the managers on their knees. However, there was no sign of Fred the Shred.
In all the combined
efforts of the NatWest staff and AGCC players gave us a flying start to the
spring cleaning.
