The
girls got Ardleigh Green off to a flying start with victory in the final of
the Women's indoor competition at Chelmsford against the favourites Loughton.
The Green had beaten Loughton in an unbeaten group stage but it was a
expected that a side made up largely of the Essex Ladies team would reverse
the outcome in the final.
Batting first
Joanne Cook (28) and Jackie Hilton (41) got Green off to a magnificent start.
Lauren Onojaitte
(20) kept up the good work with Liz Giles (18) adding valuable runs at the
end to boost the score to 130.
Lauren Evans
(1-22), Lauren Onojaitte (1-24), Joanne Cook (1-28) and Rachel Barron (0-28)
all showed great control with the ball. The fielders backed up their bowlers
well in securing 3 run outs as Loughton were dismissed for 109.
